Codex

CODEX, is a CAT 4 safety system suitable for use in most machine guarding applications where guard locking is not required. Mechan's unique modular design makes it easy to install and expand a safety system that exactly meets our needs.

The CODEX safety control module is made up from an CM1 Safety Control Module and the required number of CX2 or CX1 extender modules.

The CM1 is the main module containing the power supply input, re-set circuit, control relays with dual channel output, and the input and indication outputs for one Mechan safety switch.

The Extender Modules clip onto the same DIN rail as the CM1 and connect to the adjacent unit via the attached strap. Any combination of Extender Module can be used to suit the application. Modules available include : 

• CX1 has the input connections and indication outputs for one safety switch.  
• CX2 has the input connections and indication outputs for two safety switches 
• CLI has one safety switch input with a Limited Inch Override option
• C2HO has one safety switch input with a 2 Hand Override Option
• ESM has inputs for a Dual Channel Emergency Stop Button

The flexible, DIN rail mounting safety control unit can monitor up to 30 Mechan Safety Switches or Emergency Stop Buttons in one system. Providing dual safety output at the control module along with LED and volt free contacts from each safety switch. 

The electronic non-contact safety switches connect to the control unit inputs using a screened cable encapsulated into the switches. Using digital signals to communicate with the control unit ensuring both switch, cable and input are continuously monitored.

The unique CODE CM9 and , CX9 controllers are matched to a specific safety switch, ensuring that only the correct actuator can be used to operate the switch input. The CS9 version of the switches can be used as ‘electronic keys’ for access / control of specific parts of the controls system / machinery.
