F-Series - RFID Safety System

The F-SERIES, is a CAT 4 SIL 3 PL-e safety system suitable for use in most machine guarding applications where guard locking is not required. Mechan's unique modular design makes it easy to install and expand a safety system that exactly meet our needs.

The F-SERIES safety control module is made up from an FM1 Safety Control Module and the required number of extender modules.

The FM1 is the main module containing the power supply input, re-set circuit, control relays with dual channel output, and the input and indication outputs for one Mechan safety switch.

The Extender Modules clip onto the same DIN rail as the FM1 and connect to the adjacent unit via the attached strap. Any combination of Extender Module can be used to suit the application. Modules available include : 

• FX1 has the input connections and indication outputs for one safety switch.  
• FX2 has the input connections and indication outputs for two safety switches 
• FLI has one safety switch input with a Limited Inch Override option
• F2HO has one safety switch input with a 2 Hand Override Option
• ESM has inputs for a Dual Channel Emergency Stop Button

The flexible, DIN rail mounting safety control unit can monitor up to 30 Mechan Safety Switches or Emergency Stop Buttons in one system. Providing dual safety output and volt free contact and LED indication from each safety switch. 

The electronic non-contact safety switches connect to the control unit inputs using a simple twisted pair / screened cable. Using a dynamic signals to communicate with the control ensuring both the switch , cable and input are continuously monitored.

Together the Mechan safety switches and control modules provide a safe system that can be used in the harshest environments and where long term reliability and speedy fault correction is the key to today’s productivity requirements.

SYSTEM INSTALLATION

• Decide number of gate switch / e'stop inputs required
  
  
• Assemble control modules to match in suitable control cabinet
  
  
• Mount safety switches / E stops (Check orientation and alignment of switches, target to target )
  
  
• Connect switches to control unit inputs. ( if cable extensions are required use same type of cable - Belden twisted pair and shield - (Note longer cables are available if requested when ordering )
  
  
• Connect safety output to control system.
  
  
• Test and check all safety functions work as required.

NOTE :

All installations should be completed by a competent engineer. Consideration should be taken of the relevant applicable safety standards. All installations should be tested prior to operation and regularly checked for integrity.
