ISIS - Magnetic Safety Switches

The ISIS safety system is a tamper resistant non-contact safety switch system, suitable for use in most types of machine guarding applications where guard locking is not required.
Tested and approved by TUV to CAT 3 SIL 3 PLe performance the ISIS system is also UL approved for the USA.
The ISIS Safety control units can monitor 2 (ISIS-2) or 4 (ISIS-4) safety switches with the ISIS-E being used to add more safety switch inputs to a system. The ISIS-4 has the additional feature of combining and Emergency Stop button input with the safety switch control unit.
The non-contact safety switches have a simple 2 wire connection to the control unit inputs and are easy to install, tolerant to misalignment. The Control units have indicator LED’s for system/guard status along with safety control output and re-set options. Using a combination of ISIS-4 or ISIS-2 and the ISIS-E extender unit systems can be assembled to monitor up to 30 safety switches while maintaining CAT 3 SIL 3 PLe performance.

CONTROL MODULES

The ISIS Safety System has two main control module options and one extender module.

The ISIS-4 can monitor up to 4 ISIS safety switches and has separate inputs to monitor an Emergency Stop Button (or other safety device with 2 NO outputs). A DIP switch located beneath the lid is used to select the number of active safety switches, indicator LED’s show the number of gates that have been selected (1 to 4) . The ISIS-4 is easy to install, mounting on 35mm DIN rail, and provides LED status  indication for power, run and fault, along with 2 NO safety and 1 NC  auxiliary output contacts (4A /230V ac).

The ISIS-2 control unit can monitor up to 2 ISIS safety switches and is housed in a slim-line (22.5mm), 35mm DIN Rail mounting housing. This unit is suitable for 24V ac/dc operation and provides 2 NO safety and 1 NC auxiliary output contacts (4A / 230Vac). Indicator LED’s show power, run and gate status and a DIP switch located beneath the lid selects the number of active safety switches (1 or 2)

ISIS-E Extender module provides 5 safety switch inputs for either the ISIS-2 or ISIS-4 control units. Multiple ISIS-E extender modules can be connected together making it possible to monitor systems with up to 30 ISIS safety switches. The ISIS-E is suitable for 24V ac/dc operation. LED indication is available from all gate switches showing guard status.
 

SAFETY SWITCHES

The ISISsafety switches use coded magnet technology, are compact, tamper-resistant, and yet still have 8mm switching, making them ideal for all types of applications where additional security is required. The switches and actuators are fully encapsulated, sealed to IP67 standards, and available in either ABS or 316 Grade stainless steel housings.

The simple 2-wire connection to the control unit has a major advantage over most other systems in that it can detect both open and short circuit faults in the connection as they occur. This gives immediate indication to the control unit moving the output contacts to a safe state, and eliminating the possibility of faults accumulating without detection.

Connect the required number of safety switches to the ISIS control unit (an internal switch is used to select how many are in operation). With the power on and all the safety switches closed, the system self-check is performed. The output safety contacts will only close if all activated safety switches are operating correctly and the internal self-check is completed successfully.
